We cannot ship an electronic product without materials or environmental impact. What we can do is question what is necessary, reuse what is still useful, and build according to real orders instead of forecasts.
Packaging and manufacturing decisions are usually invisible once a product reaches its destination. At VisiblAir, those decisions are part of how we work. Our approach is simple: use enough to do the job safely, avoid material that serves no purpose, and do not make products just to leave them sitting on a shelf.
We select the smallest package that fits the order and protects it through shipping. A compact product should not automatically arrive as a small box floating inside a much larger box.
Right-sizing has a practical limit: the monitor still has to arrive safely. Replacing a product damaged in transit would consume more materials and transportation than protecting it properly the first time. We therefore add space and cushioning where the product, destination, or carrier journey requires it—but not simply because a larger box is convenient.
Materials arrive at our workshop with components and supplies. We save clean cardboard, bubble wrap, and other cushioning that can safely be used again. When an order needs bubble wrap, we use recovered or recycled material rather than treating new plastic as the default.
Bubble wrap is still plastic, and we do not pretend otherwise. Reusing it keeps material already in circulation useful for longer and reduces the need for new protective material. It may not always look factory-new, but it has been selected because it remains clean and capable of protecting the order.
If your shipment includes a reused box or cushioning material, it is not an oversight. It is material we inspected and chose to use again instead of discarding it after one trip.
For the parts of the package that must be added, we favour materials that are widely recyclable or biodegradable:
No material has the same end-of-life option everywhere. Customers should follow their local recycling and waste rules, especially for tape, labels, and plastic cushioning.
VisiblAir products are designed and manufactured in Canada. Instead of building large quantities of finished monitors in advance, we 3D print enclosures, assemble the electronics, and test the product in response to orders.
This made-to-order workflow connects production to actual demand. It helps us avoid shelves of finished products that may become obsolete and reduces the risk of buying parts we will not use. We still keep the components and supplies needed to serve customers, but purchasing is intentional rather than based on speculative volume.
The appropriate enclosure is 3D printed for the ordered model.
Components are assembled for the actual order, not an assumed future sale.
The completed monitor is tested before it is packed and shipped.

We do not describe this process as zero-waste, plastic-free, or impact-free. Electronics require components, energy, protection, and transportation. Our commitment is more concrete: keep looking at each step, remove what is unnecessary, reuse material that still works, and make only what we expect to use.
